Materials & Finishes.
We work with almost any material thanks to our curated network of specialist craftspeople around Great Britain and overseas. We have produced bespoke furniture in materials as diverse as Italian marble, solid resin, patinated brass, woven rattan, antiqued mirror, hand-worked leather, intricate timber veneers and spun aluminium.
With regards to the Harris & Harris Collection, we have designed our pieces to use predominantly natural materials to minimise the impact on the environment such as terracotta, ash, Cotswold stone, oak and natural sisal rope. We have specific finishes on some of our pieces but in general we can work with our clients to provide custom finishes and other materials to suit precise interior schemes.
For our upholstered seating, we work on a COM (customer’s own material) basis but can recommend specific fabrics and leathers when required.

Sustainability & Responsibility.
We strive to be as environmentally and socially responsible as possible. We have developed our Collection to include as many of the following responsible factors as possible:
- Every sale contributes to our Designed For Life Foundation. See more details below.
- Manufacture in Great Britain whenever possible, supporting our local economy and reducing delivery miles for local projects.
- Made from renewable, low embodied energy and natural materials wherever possible.
- Use sustainably sourced and certified timber.
- Lights designed to be used with low energy LED bulbs.
- Natural materials option for most of our upholstered products utilising coconut fibre, natural latex, wool & cotton wrap and feathers.
- Made from recycled materials where possible.
- Every product is built for longevity and durability.
- Easily disassembled and recycled at end of product’s life.
Designed For Life Foundation.
We established the Designed For Life Foundation to donate a percentage of every sale from our product collection to charity. Our furniture and lighting is predominantly specified for luxurious hotels, bars, restaurants and high end private homes and we felt it was important to help balance this. So for every product sold from our Collection you are automatically helping donate to the following three charities concerned with providing those without the basic needs of food, water and shelter:
FareShare - The UK's national network of charitable food redistributors, taking good quality surplus food from across the food industry to reach school breakfast clubs, older people's lunch clubs, homeless shelters and community cafes.
WaterAid - Providing clean water, decent toilets and hygiene knowledge to people who don't yet have access to them. Working with local partners, communities and governments to develop sustainable solutions worldwide.
ShelterBox - An international disaster relief charity, providing emergency shelter to vulnerable and hard to reach communities who have lost their home to disaster, enabling them to rebuild their lives.
International Tree Foundation.
Harris & Harris are proudly a corporate partner to the International Tree Foundation, donating to the charity monthly. Founded in 1922, ITF work with local communities in Africa and the UK to plant trees and restore forests in places where, together, they can make the fastest, most lasting impact for communities and the future of our planet. The International Tree Foundation plant trees to:
- Restore and protect forests
- Capture carbon and combat the effects of climate change
- Increase and support vital biodiversity
- Create and improve livelihoods
- Support gender inclusion and advance gender justice
- Improve farming outcomes through agroforestry
- Improve access to vital resources like food and medicine
Lets collaborate.
